This is one of our family's favourite beef dishes. This is also a favourite for me to cook as it is very easy and require less than 10 ingredients. My brain works better with lesser ingredients :-) The lesser the better!
Ingredients
2 tbsp butter
250 gram beef
150 gram mushrooms
Onions
Salt
Pepper
Nutmeg
Coriander or cilantro or chinese parsley
1/2 cup of sour cream at room temperature
Method
1) Melt 1 tbsp of butter in a large pan on medium heat. Increase the heat to high and add the strips of beef. Sprinkle with some salt and pepper. When both sides are browned, remove the beef to a bowl and set aside.
2) In the same pan, reduce the heat to medium and add the cut onions. Cook it for a minute or two. Remove them to the same bowl as the meat and set aside.
3) In the same pan, melt another 1 tbsp of butter. Increase heat to medium high and add the mushrooms. Cook, stirring occasionally for about 4 min. While cooking, sprinkle nutmeg on the mushrooms.
4) Reduce the heat to low and add the sour cream to the mushrooms. Add a tablespoon of water to thin the sauce. Mix in the sour cream thoroughly. Do not let it come to a simmer or boil or the sour cream will curdle. Stir in the beef and onions. Add the cilantro. Lastly, add salt and pepper to taste.
I usually serve it over fettucini (my preference), occasionally over rice (my husband's preference).
Happy Cooking!
